Attendance
At Romsey Abbey Church of England Primary School we aim to work closely with parents and carers to achieve and maintain the highest standards of attendance possible. For a child to reach their full educational achievement a high level of school attendance is essential. We work together with our parents to ensure that everyone has the best possible attendance. Statistics show a direct link between under-achievement and absence below 95%. For children to do their best, their attendance in school, on time, every day is vital. Our school day starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.15pm.
Any non-attendance at school must be reported on the first day of absence. Please contact the School Office on 01794 512047 by telephone by 8:55am and record the details of your child's absence.
Medical Appointments
Where possible, medical and dental appointments should be arranged for the end of the day, not the start of the day. Arriving late, even after a medical appointment, is unsettling not just for your child, but also the rest of the class.
Authorising Absence
As set down by the Department for Education, schools are only able to authorise absence from school in exceptional circumstances. In making a request for an authorised absence from school you will need to explain why the circumstances are exceptional (via our Absence Request Form obtainable directly from the School Office). Please note there is no general right to authorise absence for a family holiday and if you take your child out of school without permission the absence will be unauthorised and a Penalty Notice may be considered.
